Educational Visits & Residentials

BOOKS APPROACH JPEG.jpg

Educational visits and residential experiences are an important part of life at Tarporley CE Primary School and play an important role in our BOOKS approach to the curriculum.

We believe that learning extends beyond the classroom. Visits and off-site activities provide children with opportunities to develop their knowledge and understanding through first-hand experiences, explore the wider world and develop confidence, independence and resilience.

Our educational visits are carefully planned to complement and enrich the curriculum. They range from local visits within the Tarporley community to visits further afield, linked to children's learning across the curriculum. Our children have opportunities to visit places such as local churches, museums, sporting venues, theatres and other educational and cultural settings.

Residential Experiences

We believe that residential experiences provide particularly valuable opportunities for children to develop independence, confidence, teamwork and resilience in new environments.

Children from Year 2 to Year 6 have the opportunity to take part in residential experiences during their time at Tarporley. Our residential programme operates on a two-year cycle, linked to our rolling curriculum, and includes age-appropriate experiences for different year groups.

Our Year 6 residential also provides an important opportunity for children to develop independence and strengthen friendships as they prepare for the transition to secondary school.

Visits for Everyone

We want every child to benefit from our programme of educational visits and residential experiences. We make reasonable adjustments where necessary to support children with additional needs or disabilities and work with families to ensure that children can participate as fully as possible.

Keeping Children Safe

The safety and wellbeing of our children is our highest priority. Every educational visit is carefully planned and authorised, with appropriate consideration given to staffing, first aid, medical needs, transport, safeguarding and risk management.

Parents and carers are provided with appropriate information about visits and, where required, are asked to provide consent before their child takes part. Local visits within the village are covered by an annual parental consent arrangement.

Costs and Contributions

We aim to ensure that financial circumstances do not prevent children from participating in educational visits. Visits are funded primarily through parental contributions, with support available from school where families are experiencing financial difficulty.

No child will be excluded from an educational visit because their parent or carer is unwilling or unable to make a voluntary contribution.

Further information about individual visits, including dates, arrangements, costs and consent requirements, will be shared with parents and carers at the appropriate time.

Learning Beyond the Classroom

Our educational visits help our children to be outward-facing, curious and confident learners. They provide memorable opportunities to connect their classroom learning with the wider world and to develop the knowledge, skills and experiences they need to thrive.

Through our educational visits and residential experiences, we encourage every child to 'Let Your Light Shine'.
