RSE Consultation 2026
Relationships and Sex Education (RSE) Consultation – 2026
Tarporley CE Primary School
Relationships Education is a statutory part of the curriculum for all primary schools in England. At Tarporley CE Primary School, Relationships and Sex Education (RSE) is delivered in line with our Christian values, statutory requirements, and our approved RSE Policy (2026).
As set out in our policy, we:
Teach Relationships Education as a statutory requirement
Teach the biological elements of sex education through the science curriculum only
Deliver RSE in a way that is age‑appropriate, inclusive, and sensitive, and not about the promotion of sexual activity
Meet our duties under the Equality Act 2010 and Public Sector Equality Duty
Purpose of the Consultation
Although the school’s approach to RSE is clearly defined in policy, we believe in working in close partnership with parents, carers, staff, pupils and governors. As part of our commitment to transparency and shared responsibility, we are therefore undertaking a consultation to support the ongoing review and implementation of our RSE provision, as outlined in Section 3 of our policy.
Consultation Period
6th May 2026 – 17th June 2026
What We Are Consulting On
During the consultation period, parents, staff and governors are invited to:
Read our Draft RSE Policy (2026), which explains:
What is taught
How it is taught
How inclusivity and safeguarding are ensured
Review information about our ‘No Outsiders’ approach, which supports the Relationships Education curriculum by developing understanding of:
Respect
Difference
Belonging
Equality within the context of family life
How to Take Part
We would be grateful for your feedback through one or more of the following:
Complete the questionnaire sent via COMPASS, so that your views can be formally recorded
Attend the parent drop‑in session to view resources, ask questions and discuss the curriculum with school leaders
Parent Drop‑In Session
15th June 2026 at 2:30pm
This session will provide an opportunity to:
Ask questions about curriculum content or delivery
View age‑appropriate resources
Discuss how the curriculum reflects our values and statutory duties
Important Clarifications
Parents do not have the right to withdraw children from Relationships Education
Parents do have the right to withdraw from the non‑statutory elements of sex education, however Tarporley CE Primary School does not teach non‑statutory sex education
All teaching is delivered by trained staff, with safeguarding procedures in place and clear routes for pupil support
Thank You
We value your engagement and feedback as we continue to review and strengthen our RSE provision in line with:
Our school policy
Statutory guidance
The needs of our pupils and community
Our Christian vision: “Let Your Light Shine” (Matthew 5)
