World Book Day blog

Date: 7th Mar 2025 @ 10:46am

Dear Tarporley Family,

What a fantastic World Book Day 2025 we had! A huge thank you to everyone who joined in and helped make it such a success. Yes, the costumes were wonderful, and yes, we had great fun guessing who everyone was—but the real magic of the day was the sheer joy of books.

Right from the start, our book swap was a highlight, with children buzzing with excitement at the chance to choose a book to take home and keep. Thank you for your generous donations, which made this special moment possible.

Throughout the day, each class delved into a beautiful picture book, using it as inspiration for a range of creative activities—from poetry and drama to collaborative artwork. We hope your child came home eager to share what they discovered!

Another highlight was our special story time at 2:45, when teachers swapped classrooms to read to a different group of children. The warmth and enthusiasm shown by our pupils made this a truly memorable experience.

But beyond the fun and festivities, World Book Day is a powerful reminder of the importance of reading. Research shows that reading is one of the biggest contributors to academic success, unlocking not just imagination but also knowledge across all subjects. Whether your child dreams of being an engineer, a scientist, or an explorer, strong reading skills will help them access the texts that inspire them. Please keep sharing stories, reading together, and fostering a love of books at home.

A special thank you to our wonderful PTA, who secured a fantastic deal to provide every Tarporley family with a copy of The Children’s History of Chester—a perfect keepsake celebrating our local history.

And with that, we’re off to claim our free World Book Day book with our tokens!

Happy reading!
