Super Squirrels

Date: 11th Dec 2022 @ 5:08am

Monday 12th December

Weren't they wonderful in their Nativity on Wednesday? All us adults were bursting with pride (and relief and a bit of exhaustion!!) at the end. Our expectations are high and we know yours and Mrs Forrester's are just as high and every child peaked at exactly the right time. Phew! Let Christmas begin!

Last week was quite a busy week in the life of the Squirrels. (Which school week isn't??!) Our trip to the Ice Cream farm was very successful and, again, the children raised their game and needed very little help to remember their manners or our Golden rules. Meeting Santa was, of course, magical and getting to choose their own present from the workshop was exciting, and certainly a little amusing watching them. My favourite part was in the soft play area where they showed how much of a cohesive, friendly unit they are. Also possibly the loudest of all the classes as well!

So learning has been of a different sort for some of the week but we have and will continue to maintain a basic timetable right until the end of Friday as this helps the children's behaviour. We became authors for most of Friday morning as we edited and then wrote out our owl fact files for our Let Your Writing Shine board and in maths our consolidation of understanding addition and subtraction continues. Our rapid recall of number bonds to 10 is accelerating and needs to be maintained and we are using these facts to help us with other number bonds.

We will use this coming week to catch up on some other curriculum areas such as D/T where we will plan, build and evaluate our bird boxes and we are focusing on Advent in RE. We may also have time for a Christmas party, another outing to St Helen's, a Christmas lunch and some Christmas art to use for our Christmas cards. 'Tis the time to be jolly!
