Safer Internet Day
Dear Parents and Carers,
Today is Safer Internet Day, a global event that promotes the safe and responsible use of technology.
To support you in talking to your child about online safety, here are some useful resources:
· UK Safer Internet Centre – https://www.saferinternet.org.uk
· NSPCC Online Safety – https://www.nspcc.org.uk/keeping-children-safe/online-safety/
· ThinkUKnow (CEOP advice for parents and children) – https://www.thinkuknow.co.uk
· Childnet Parents and Carers Toolkit – https://www.childnet.com/parents-and-carers/
· Tarporley CE Primary Internet Safety - https://www.tarporleyce.cheshire.sch.uk/page/internet-safety/22934
The following video is aimed at parents and older children and was developed as part of a school programme to raise awareness of Online Harms in Secondary Schools. It addresses the potential dangers which young people may face when using social media and the internet. Although the video itself does not contain any explicit material, it does contain content and images which some viewers may find triggering relating to the topics and themes surrounding online harms. We appreciate this may lead to negative emotional responses and we advise viewers to prioritise their emotional wellbeing. Warning: Please be aware that this video contains flashing images and may trigger those with photosensitive epilepsy.
