Reception - Crown Farm Quarry
Start: 22nd Apr 2025 12:00am
Dear Parents/Carers,
Good news! I have now booked our next class trip which links with our Minibeast topic next half term.
Thanks to Tarmac, Cheshire Wildlife Trust’s Education Team are able to offer a FREE educational visit to Crown Farm Quarry Nature Reserve.
Date: Monday 31st March 2025.
Address: Crown Farm Quarry, Stoneyford Lane, Oakmere, Northwich, Cheshire, CW8 2WN
As before, to reduce the cost of hiring a coach from school and back, we are asking that children are dropped off and collected from the quarry. Please do carshare where possible. Further times and meeting spots will be finalised this half term once I have conducted a thorough risk assessment.
The reserve features diverse habitats including ponds, meadows, and woodlands, offering children a wonderful environment to explore and learn about nature and love the environment. Our objective is to connect children with nature, and build their confidence and independence working outdoors.
From acquiring green skills like habitat mapping and species surveying to engaging in pond-dipping, meadow-sweeping, den-building, and nature art, the Trust aims to bring children closer to wildlife and provide them with unforgettable experiences.
For this visit your child will need to wear comfortable clothes that you don’t mind getting dirty and appropriate footwear with a waterproof coat. Please do ensure your child has plenty of layers on as we will be outside all day! Yay! There are no indoor facilities. There will be a compost toilet on site. We ask that your child wears a school jumper/cardigan for identification purposes.
The children will need to bring a packed lunch in a bag (that they are able to carry) on that day or order a school packed lunch online. If you order a school packed lunch, this will be brought by a member of staff on the morning of the trip. Your child will just need a bag.
Please can you let the office know as soon as possible if you are unable to transport your child to the site so we are able to put in appropriate measures.
If anyone would like to join us on the trip, then please do let the office know (admin@tarporleyce.cheshire.sch.uk).
Thank you for your support as always.
Kind regards,
Miss Selwyn
