Religious Education

At Tarporley C of E we are passionate about the teaching of RE. Our curriculum enables our children to wonder, to question, to challenge and to reflect. The purpose of RE is to help pupils understand the significance of religion and its contribution to their spiritual, moral, social and cultural development.

At the heart of our teaching are our Christian Values, our BOOKS approach to learning (Bravery, Outward-facing, Opportunities, Knowledge and Skills and Spirituality) and our desire to make sure every child can Let Their Light Shine (Matthew 5).

We deliver a two-year rolling programme across Key Stages 1 and 2 to meet the needs of our mixed-class cohorts, and we follow the Cheshire West and Chester Agreed Syllabus for Religious Education (2019) while also utilising the supporting resource Understanding Christianity when planning lessons that are centred around ‘big questions’.
